How to choose a children’s book

I found this great website

http://www.childrensbooksandreviews.com/

which has book reviews where philosophical discussions and developmental values are also considered along with the content of the book.

Also on the site is a free ebook on how to choose a children’s book. Aaron Mead talks about what makes a book good – text, language, illustrations, theme, …  He also talks about what you may or may not want the content to include, eg encouraging bad behaviour or showing bad behaviour has consequences.  What do you want your child to be learning from this “friend”?  And some pitfalls about choosing books – do you think they should read it? or is it something you like but not your child?

If you are interested, go to the website and top right there is a link to download the free ebook.

Many thanks for this Aaron Mead.
